Freak Out Part 3...

Ello, everyone! Genie here and I am so, so, so glad to be back.

As you may or may not know, JGT has been on hiatus due to me working on graduate school applications. For the past few months, I've been reading, writing personal statements and samples, and basically immersing myself in the literary arts.

Well, I am very excited to share that...I have received two letters of acceptance to Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) in Writing for Children programs. In the fall, I will be studying creative writing on the graduate level. And I am FREAKING OUT BIG TIME.

When I told Jocey the news, she graciously drew me this congratulatory picture:

Isn't it the best?! It's comic-us being all proud of one another. I love it so much. Thank you, Jocey!!

This is a dream I've been working toward for a long time. I still cannot believe I will be able to live it very soon. And I know that I wouldn't be in this position today if it weren't for JGT Comics.

Taking a break from the comic has been a huge sacrifice. With grad school now in the picture, chances are I won't have a lot of time to draw still, but school hasn't stopped me from telling this story before, and it's not going to stop me in the future.

Even if the pace will be slower, I am still going to draw JGT. And look...

...I've already started drawing again. And I couldn't be happier.

Thank you so much again, everyone, for sticking around and for letting me share my creative journey. I am excited to continue all of my stories, JGT included.

Ello, everyone! Genie here in the midst of grad school applications.

Even though it's hard for me to get comic pages done at the moment, I don't want to take myself out of JGT for too long.

Just Jocey being Jocey and Jag being Jag...always puts a smile on my face. I am so pumped to get back to comic-drawing once my applications are finished. Thank you, again, for waiting with me...

The Nutcracker: Merry Christmas from JGT!!

Ello, everyone! Genie here to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This year, Jocey and I decided to use "The Nutcracker" as our theme for the annual JGT Christmas pic. We had a ton of fun learning about (and reading) the actual story and ultimately casting the characters.

I'm not gone...

Ello, everyone! Genie here...

Well, the holiday season is coming and going, and I have not been able to finish the next page yet. That is mainly because of my work and my grad school applications. Fun stuff...

In actuality, I am truly loving my job and the grad school application process, not because of the stress, but because of the realizations that I have been making.

As I write my personal statements about my creative processes, I always mention JGT. Because, well, JGT trained me a lot when it comes to the craft of storytelling. I've grown a lot through JGT.

And though I have had to take longish breaks from it due to time constraints, I am grateful that it exists and that it is still on this wonderful website, waiting for me. And I am extra grateful for all of you who wait for me, too.

So, thank you so much for that.

The story will continue, most likely in January. There will be special holiday posts coming up soon courtesy of Jocey and me. And there will also be a special surprise post regarding Jocey later on, too!

I am very excited to share more of JGT's story with you guys. So, so excited.

Until then, please hang in there, for that is what I will be doing, too.

"In My Dreams" - Happy Birthday, Jag!

Ello...again! Genie here with another birthday animatic!

This time, on November 1, we celebrate everyone's favorite Squirrel Dude, Jag. Similar to Lila's, his animatic focuses more on Jag's 'origins', or rather, the struggle to remember his origins.

Because of his brainwashing, he is starting to really struggle with remembering his past. So, I thought the song "In My Dreams" from Anastasia: The New Musical fit that perfectly...

(Fun fact: The girl who sang this song also sang the song featured in Lila's video)
