Memory 1: The OSOP ~ Happy Birthday, Jocey!

For this year's JGT Birthday Cycle, we are going to be doing something a bit different. Much like how this comic was created, all three JGT girls will be helping out with creating these birthday posts.

For each JGT girl's birthday, the other two friends will pick their favorite memory of her. It can be happy, it can be sappy, or it can be straight up random! This memory will be the theme of the birthday post.

First up is, of course, Jocey's birthday! Huzzah!

So, Taylor and I decided to pick a Jocey memory that would always make us happy and nostalgic. It's the memory of the OSOP, the Oxymoron Scarf of Pain!

Jocey received the OSOP when we were all around...13-14 years old. It was a green scarf with peace signs on it, and Jocey wore it pretty often.

But...we're talking about young Jocey. And, very much like her comic-self, she was very spirited and very feisty. And she poked us. A lot.

One day, we found ourselves hanging out at Grape Day Park, where the slide resembled a big bundle of grapes, and the jungle gym was made up of giant grape vines (as seen in the picture). We climbed, ran around, filmed silly videos, and ultimately, ran away from Jocey and her dangerous poking-finger!

We told Jocey, "Man, you're so violent for someone who wears a peace sign scarf!"

Jocey then said, "Well, I'm an oxymoron."

And the Oxymoron Scarf of Pain was born....and we could never forget it.

Truthfully, Taylor and I really do love this memory. It just really captured who Jocey was and is, and that couldn't make us smile more.

So, from us to you, Jocey, Happy Birthday! We hope it's a wonderful one, filled with love, laughs, and an oxymoron here and there.

From,

Genie, Taylor, and JGT

Color Splash

Hey guys!
Your friendly neighborhood squirrel-girl Jocey here! Man it's been a while since I last posted, but here I am! I'm actually currently living in Tucson right now at a rotation, so shout out to all our Tucson readers!
I've actually arrived with some art! I was originally going to do a doodle of me in lab coat since I'm rotating at a hospital here, but the doodle turned into a Genie doodle rather than our resident squirrel girl, but then Jocey protested and added herself to the doodle, so she is there too. I might do more doodles like the one I did, so be on the lookout!!

So I call this doodle Color Splash! As I was making the lines darker some of them started fading away and it made me think of having the colors bleed and splash and thus Color Splash was born.

Hope you guys enjoy this lovely doodle and I'll see you guys around.

P.S. I was going to also do a Pokemon Go! doodle but once again Genie came out instead of Jocey and maybe I'll do a Pokemon Go! one later.

P.S.S I really want a gyrados and venusaur, but alas bulbasaur is hard to find and it takes 400 magikarp candy to evolve magikarp :(

So Many Projects...

Ello, everyone! Genie here! With a lot of projects on her plate!

With Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree in the works, plus a couple of other projects, the JGT pages are coming in slowly. I'm trying my best to get them done as soon as I can without rushing the creative process...and the fun, for that matter. So thank you again for being so patient!

Since I don't have the next page at the moment, here is a late-night doodle of one of my other projects, Flutter By.

I can't really say much about the project at the moment because I'm...kind of starting over from scratch? This idea was supposed to be another comic, but then I decided to make it a novel. So I began to write said novel, but then it all got erased when my computer crashed. So...here's to new beginnings!

This is the new design of the protagonist, whose name is now up for change as well. It's all a bit scary, and yet, very exciting. That's the thrill of taking on so many projects.

But, to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Until then, go and take on your own creative projects! I'll see you soon with a new page...

That's a Lot of Flitwicks...

Ello, everyone! Genie here with Page 29! Man, after all the last minute changes and moments of going out of my comfort zone, I finally can share this page with you! I hope you enjoy it!

I decided to use this design for Munchkinland instead because not only was it more faithful to how hummingbirds live (they like to live high up in the trees), I just thought it looked cooler. And of course, gotta use all that blue. Blue is the canon color of the East Country in Oz ;)

On to Page 30! Let's see who shows up in that one!

Until then,

Genie

Preview-ish: Munchkinland

Ello, everyone! Genie here with a preview for you! Well, it's technically a preview for a scrapped idea, but it's also a preview for the next page in general!

Here it is, the first draft of JGT's Munchkinland!

As you can see, the houses of Munchkinland were basically hummingbird nests...turned upside down. When I drew them on Page 29, they...didn't look as cool as I thought they would. They looked like clumps of beehives that just fell off a steep cliff. Not very appealing...

So, I did my best to erase all that, and start the panel over, while also avoiding the panels I had already drawn and finalized. This is why Page 29 has taken so long to complete.

And huzzah, huzzah, huzzah! It is indeed completed!

Check back here tomorrow night for Page 29, featuring the new design for JGT's Munchkinland!

Until then,

Genie

Sharing Stories...

...can be both fun and difficult.

Ello, everyone! Genie here with a little blast from the artistic past!

Just letting you know, the next page is in the works. It's a challenging one, and I may change a few things before I color it. So, that's why it's being delayed a bit.

HOWEVER, I want to do better with weekly posts, so here is an Ozian drawing I did almost 2 years ago!

It's called "Sharing Stories of Oz"!

Since there are so many books in the original Oz series by L. Frank Baum, and most of them are named after main characters, I thought it would be cool to see different Oz characters read each other's stories. I also had a lot of fun drawing these original Oz characters in my style. This drawing was posted on my deviantART, but since JGT is in Oz, here it is again for all of you!

Again, sorry for no page this week. Despite the delay, I am determined to get this page done for everyone as soon as I can. Gotta love sharing stories, even if it takes a while to do so.

Until then,

Genie
