New Year is here

Allo!

Jocey here. Long time no see!
I'm just here just in time for the New Year!
2016 was a very stressful year, at least for me it was.
School was just...awful, stressful, but in its own way, it was also fun. I learned lots and lots this year, so that's that good part!

I created this years New Years picture:
I should have added some confetti in the background haha.
I based this years theme on a New Year Party Photo Booth.

Time for a trip down memory lane:
2015 was a big year, the year Genie and I graduated college and got our Bachelor's degree!
Of course, the thing I want to reminisce about happened on December 31, 2014, at Genie's house. Genie's family threw a New Year's party at her place. It was an awesome night full of amazing memories. Her family had set up a little Photo Booth themed after the Red Carpet. We all took photos together, with our families and with our friends.
All the pictures for this years JGT New Year are based on some of the photos I have from the New Year Party.

I absolutely love the dress I gave Genie and Lila! I know Genie doesn't really wear a lot of glitter but it felt really fitting for the dress she was wearing.
When I showed Genie the picture, she just loved the glasses Harry was wearing, I thought they were geeky and perfect for him. The little face paint tattoos the gang is wearing was something fun I thought I could add, it adds a little personality to everyone I thought. Especially for Jocey and for Rudy. Lila just wants to look cool ahah

I hope everyone has an amazing New Years, and I hope it brings good fun and good cheer.

Until next time my fellow Squirrel Fans!
2017 is going to be an awesome year and JGT is going to be awesome this year too. Get ready for more adventures in Oz.
Happy 2017!

Christmas with JGT and Company!

Ello, everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Jocey and I give you a couple of JGT holiday moments!

The first one is a sequel to our JGT Christmas Poem from last year. We know what Genie and Harry got for Secret Santa....let's see what everyone else got!

Oh, Jag...you tried XD

Meanwhile, here is what Lila and Ace were up to...

Look at their cute "Master" tree! Thank you, Jocey, for this awesome ornament!

From JGT to you, have a wonderful Christmas and Happy Holidays! Stay safe, and embrace all the love :)

Warm Wishes,

Genie, Jocey, and JGT

Back At It...

Ello, everyone! Genie here with Page 33! Huzzah!!

After spending the past week on the road for Princess Leilani press stuff (which was completely surreal...I got to be on radio and TV...scary but awesome!), I am slowly getting back into the swing of things, and that happily includes JGT.

Page 33 was a fun page to do, mainly because of tiny Ace/East. I just really want a plush doll of tiny Ace/East. A Genie can wish, right?

Well, here's to more JGT in OZ, and celebrating the holidays with great company! I can't wait to get started!

Until then,

Genie

Getting back to my drawing roots, and that means...a lot of doodling!

Here is a happy Rudy Jr. saying hi to the holiday season, and to all of you :)

So Much Storytelling!!

Ello, everyone! Genie here after a reluctant hiatus of JGT-ing! November, where did you go?

I've been out of the drawing-world for the past month mainly because of the Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree book launch as well as NaNoWriMo! Though not having time to draw JGT is very, very hard and sad, I did have a wonderful time at my first ever book launch. I got to sign books, give corny speeches, and celebrate the awesomeness that is diverse children's books.

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) was also a success as I have completed over 50,000 words of my novel! I am planning to share more about this book with you guys later, for it is fairly related to JGT...kind of...you'll see.

Anyway, I apologize for not posting for a while. Thank you all again for your patience! I am so happy to say that I am back and that it's great to be comic-ing again!

Time to get some fun JGT posts done!

Until then,

Genie

PS: Wow, this is JGT's 500th post.....Huzzah for us!!

Jag's Words...

Ello, everyone! Genie here with a belated birthday post for....our very own Squirrel Dude, Jag!

I had a feeling I'd be late for this. I recently took part in my first book launch, and while that's exciting and surreal (very, very surreal...in a good way), I did get very behind on my other for-love projects, including JGT.

This Jag Birthday Post may be very simple, but trust me, it's very significant.

It's a batch of words that Jag doesn't say necessarily, but have been said to him by someone else.

Of course, I won't say who this someone is or what tune these words possess, but when we DO get to learn more about Jag...just keep this in mind ;)

Thank you, everyone, for your patience! I hope you are all doing well in this busy, busy world.

Until then,

Genie

JGT...and a Haunted House

What would happen if the JGT crew went into one of those haunted house attractions?

I think most of them would be pretty scared out of their minds....

....Except Ace. Ace is usually the exception, haha.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Until then,

Genie

It's a Page! Huzzah!

Well, guys, I really hope I can get these pages out at a faster rate, haha.

Thank you all so much for your patience! It's been very, very busy here. Jobs, book production, book LAUNCHES, and many scary deadlines.

It's times like these where I'm glad to count on JGT as a little creative haven for me.

So, I hope you enjoy the page, and I'll be posting more updates regarding holidays, pages, and Leilani soon!

Until then,

Genie

PS: Here's to Ace as the Wicked Wizard of the East. Work that cheesy outfit, Ace!

Happy Belated Birthday, Lila: "They'll Lie"

Well, this is a bit late, but it is here!

I wrote a horribly simple poem. I apologize in advance.

Happy Birthday, Lila, our JGT villainess, as human.

Until then,

Memories 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10: A Decade of the JGT Friendship

Ello, everyone! Genie here with a very special post.

As you may know, for the JGT Birthday Prophecy Cycle this year, Jocey, Taylor, and I shared our 3 favorite memories of each other. The 3rd memory was shared on Taylor's birthday, 21 days ago.

Well, since then, I've been planning a little surprise for Jocey and Taylor.

You see, 10 years ago, my family and I moved. I was 12 going on 13, a new student in a new school. Where I used to live, I was bullied. I obsessed over school and other serious things. I was beginning to lose my sense of humor and my smile.

And you know how I got my smile back? These two girls.

When I met Jocey and Taylor, I felt...better. I drew more. I sang more. I wasn't afraid to be myself, and I hadn't felt that way in a long time. Through the years, of course, the three of us had ups and downs. We had to go our separate ways for college. We had to grow.

But the thing is...we grew together.

Ten years later, I can honestly say that I am SO PROUD of these two. Jocey and Taylor, you've both accomplished so much more than you know. You deserve all the success that comes to you and all the love you receive along the way. You are both brave, and talented, and I am tearing up right now just by thinking about how much I believe in you and love you.

So, as the last part of your birthday presents, and as a celebration of our 10-year friendiversary, here is a drawing...

For old times' sake, I decided to hand-draw this. It's 7 more memories, so that we've featured a total of 10 memories during this Birthday Prophecy Cycle. I hope you enjoy this picture, as I've enjoyed remembering all of these awesome times.

So, Happy Happy Birthday again, and Happy 10-Year Friendiversary, Jocey and Taylor! I am so happy and honored to be your friend, and to witness how much you've both grown. Here's to more years of randomness, comic-worthy moments, and smiles.

Love,

Genie

You'll see! It's going to be great.

Memory 3: Musical Recordings ~ Happy Birthday, Taylor!!!

The prophecy of 21 continues...

For our dear Tay:

You always filled our hearts with song and poetry and good cheer, a lot of our memories are full of your kindness and songs, always singing a show tune or two.

Had fun with fancy brushes on this one :)
Fun Fact: Each color of the musical notes represents a musical we would all sing in these recordings!
Orange: Avenue Q
Pink/Dark Green: Wicked
Light Green: Shrek the Musical
Red: Seussical!

For our birthday memory, me and Genie picked that time we went to Genie's house and recorded ourselves singing Shrek the Musical. I played the role of Donkey, cause who knows what kind of voice I have. Genie was Shrek cause of the three of us, Genie had the lowest voice. And you were Princess Fiona, singing about her ogres and towers and curses.

Of course, the best part of that whole day was when we made our voices like chipmunks and you and I, our voices became nonsense while Genie's was still understandable and squeaky!

That day was glorious, full of squeaky-ness and out-of-tune friends. We sang to our hearts' content, "Who I'd Be", and Fiona's song when she's in the tower. Sometimes I feel we should record those moments again, haha, maybe with new songs ;)

Taylor, I hope you sing to your heart's content today (you and Genie should record a duet for me and send it to me ;) )

With lots of love,

Jocey, Genie, and JGT

A Page and a....Podcast?

Ello, everyone! Genie here with....what the title says!

First, I finally give you Page 31! It's been sitting on my desk for a while, so I'm happy to see it finished!

Second, I'm in a podcast! Wait, what?

The podcast is called "More Than Ordinary", and it's run by an educational video game organization called 7 Generation Games (please check them out; they're amazing)! As co-authors of Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree, Juliann Anesi and I were invited to Santa Monica to record this interview! We talk about the Guardian Princesses, Leilani, inclusivity in media, and the importance of personal stories.

If you would like to hear the podcast, here is a LINK for you!

Just a warning... I get a bit corny when I talk about these subjects. What can I say? Oh, and you'll get to hear my voice! My low and strange voice...yay XD

I do hope you enjoy Page 31 as well as the podcast! I am so honored to be a part of both :)

Tune in tomorrow! You may know why!

Until then,

Genie

New Schedules...

Ello, everyone! Genie here.

Page 31 is in the works, but a lot of stuff has come up for me over the past couple of weeks. They're good things, but they're things that take time away from comic-drawing.

Long story short, I just started a new job at a community college, and I am also becoming more busy due to Princess Leilani's launch later this fall. So, I'm currently helping with last-minute edits and launch stuff (Juliann and I just recorded a podcast today, too...it was so cool!)

BUT!

I have not forgotten about JGT. It's too precious to be forgotten. Once I get used to my new schedule, I'll be able to finish and publish the pages faster again.

In the meantime, thank you all for your patience! I'm going to do my best and get the story out to everyone at a good pace.

Until then,

Genie

So Grateful...

Ello, everyone! Genie here!

I want to thank Jocey and Taylor for such a wonderful birthday post. Your words and art left me smiling the whole day. You guys are the best friends a girl could ask for! I'm so very excited to continue this birthday-prophecy cycle with Tay's birthday....and then maybe a little surprise afterward.

I also want to thank my brother, Marco, for his birthday gift! Since you don't personally know Marco, he is featured on THIS PAGE of Big Magic. For my birthday, he drew a picture that features a certain cast of random characters...

That's right...

LOOK!! Isn't it awesome?! Man oh man, I love this picture! I love my bro! You're one cool dude, Marco!

I am so, so, so grateful for these three people. Marco, Jocey, and Taylor, thank you so much for making my birthday, and every day, truly magical.

Here's to making more wonderful memories with all of you!

Until then,

Genie

Memory 2: The Humble Beginning ~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENIE!

The prophecy of 21 continues on this humble day:

In true storyteller fashion, the JGT comic started of with a single idea: three friends who shared adventures with each other. Amidst the backdrop of our sophomore year of high school Genie began sharing one-page illustrations and comics that depicted our friend group. Whether this meant a comic about how we were frantically studying for a history quiz during lunch period, illustrations about Genie and I being tied to a tree and Jocey coming at us with an axe, or the "12 Random days of Christmas" song, Genie has always used her creativity to bring joy, fun, and wonderful memories to her friends.

I couldn't resist color splashing this image: It looks a bit crude because of it, but I feel like it shows your creativity!

The favorite memory of Genie that Jocey and I have chosen has to do with JGT. Whenever she finished a new page of the comic or came up with an idea or new character she would share it with us- albeit a touch embarrassed- the very next day at school, and her passion and excitement few as the JGT comic and universe expanded. She interviewed us to find out which weapon would be most fitting to both our character and our personalities, and Jocey and I were thrilled to see ourselves in a comic. Those morning conversations before school when you shared with us new ideas and showed us the new comic that you worked on the day before are fond memories- you being all happy and bubbly, bursting with exuberance that only creativity can bring- that we will never forget.

"Look at where we are; look at where we started." (Sorry Genie! I couldn't resist quoting a musical!) You have come so far from that girl that would share her ideas with us before school, and the JGT comic is a reflection of how much you have grown as a storyteller, artist and friend. Happy Birthday GENIE!!! We are so happy to call you our friend, and may your birthday be filled with creativity, wonder and happiness!

From,

Taylor, Jocey and JGT

Something's Bound...

...to bring them together.

Happy Birthday, Morrison Brothers. Here's to you both!

Until then,

Genie

Friday, August 5, 2016

Thank Goodness...

...a new page has finally been posted. Thank you guys again for your patience!

Also, huzzah for color change! If you saw my old concept art for Glinda Taylor, you'll notice that the colors of her dress are completely different from the final version. This is because I wanted to make Taylor a true Glinda, which means that she is Glinda, the Good Witch of the South. In a classic Land of Oz map, the South's color is mainly red. And older sketches of Glinda do depict her in elegant red dresses.

So, here's to more Glinda, more Munchkins, and more stressed out Genie...in the comic and hopefully not in real life, haha.

Until then,

Genie

Memory 1: The OSOP ~ Happy Birthday, Jocey!

For this year's JGT Birthday Cycle, we are going to be doing something a bit different. Much like how this comic was created, all three JGT girls will be helping out with creating these birthday posts.

For each JGT girl's birthday, the other two friends will pick their favorite memory of her. It can be happy, it can be sappy, or it can be straight up random! This memory will be the theme of the birthday post.

First up is, of course, Jocey's birthday! Huzzah!

So, Taylor and I decided to pick a Jocey memory that would always make us happy and nostalgic. It's the memory of the OSOP, the Oxymoron Scarf of Pain!

Jocey received the OSOP when we were all around...13-14 years old. It was a green scarf with peace signs on it, and Jocey wore it pretty often.

But...we're talking about young Jocey. And, very much like her comic-self, she was very spirited and very feisty. And she poked us. A lot.

One day, we found ourselves hanging out at Grape Day Park, where the slide resembled a big bundle of grapes, and the jungle gym was made up of giant grape vines (as seen in the picture). We climbed, ran around, filmed silly videos, and ultimately, ran away from Jocey and her dangerous poking-finger!

We told Jocey, "Man, you're so violent for someone who wears a peace sign scarf!"

Jocey then said, "Well, I'm an oxymoron."

And the Oxymoron Scarf of Pain was born....and we could never forget it.

Truthfully, Taylor and I really do love this memory. It just really captured who Jocey was and is, and that couldn't make us smile more.

So, from us to you, Jocey, Happy Birthday! We hope it's a wonderful one, filled with love, laughs, and an oxymoron here and there.

From,

Genie, Taylor, and JGT

Color Splash

Hey guys!
Your friendly neighborhood squirrel-girl Jocey here! Man it's been a while since I last posted, but here I am! I'm actually currently living in Tucson right now at a rotation, so shout out to all our Tucson readers!
I've actually arrived with some art! I was originally going to do a doodle of me in lab coat since I'm rotating at a hospital here, but the doodle turned into a Genie doodle rather than our resident squirrel girl, but then Jocey protested and added herself to the doodle, so she is there too. I might do more doodles like the one I did, so be on the lookout!!

So I call this doodle Color Splash! As I was making the lines darker some of them started fading away and it made me think of having the colors bleed and splash and thus Color Splash was born.

Hope you guys enjoy this lovely doodle and I'll see you guys around.

P.S. I was going to also do a Pokemon Go! doodle but once again Genie came out instead of Jocey and maybe I'll do a Pokemon Go! one later.

P.S.S I really want a gyrados and venusaur, but alas bulbasaur is hard to find and it takes 400 magikarp candy to evolve magikarp :(

So Many Projects...

Ello, everyone! Genie here! With a lot of projects on her plate!

With Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree in the works, plus a couple of other projects, the JGT pages are coming in slowly. I'm trying my best to get them done as soon as I can without rushing the creative process...and the fun, for that matter. So thank you again for being so patient!

Since I don't have the next page at the moment, here is a late-night doodle of one of my other projects, Flutter By.

I can't really say much about the project at the moment because I'm...kind of starting over from scratch? This idea was supposed to be another comic, but then I decided to make it a novel. So I began to write said novel, but then it all got erased when my computer crashed. So...here's to new beginnings!

This is the new design of the protagonist, whose name is now up for change as well. It's all a bit scary, and yet, very exciting. That's the thrill of taking on so many projects.

But, to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Until then, go and take on your own creative projects! I'll see you soon with a new page...

That's a Lot of Flitwicks...

Ello, everyone! Genie here with Page 29! Man, after all the last minute changes and moments of going out of my comfort zone, I finally can share this page with you! I hope you enjoy it!

I decided to use this design for Munchkinland instead because not only was it more faithful to how hummingbirds live (they like to live high up in the trees), I just thought it looked cooler. And of course, gotta use all that blue. Blue is the canon color of the East Country in Oz ;)

On to Page 30! Let's see who shows up in that one!

Until then,

Preview-ish: Munchkinland

Ello, everyone! Genie here with a preview for you! Well, it's technically a preview for a scrapped idea, but it's also a preview for the next page in general!

Here it is, the first draft of JGT's Munchkinland!

As you can see, the houses of Munchkinland were basically hummingbird nests...turned upside down. When I drew them on Page 29, they...didn't look as cool as I thought they would. They looked like clumps of beehives that just fell off a steep cliff. Not very appealing...

So, I did my best to erase all that, and start the panel over, while also avoiding the panels I had already drawn and finalized. This is why Page 29 has taken so long to complete.

And huzzah, huzzah, huzzah! It is indeed completed!

Check back here tomorrow night for Page 29, featuring the new design for JGT's Munchkinland!

Until then,

Genie

Sharing Stories...

...can be both fun and difficult.

Ello, everyone! Genie here with a little blast from the artistic past!

Just letting you know, the next page is in the works. It's a challenging one, and I may change a few things before I color it. So, that's why it's being delayed a bit.

HOWEVER, I want to do better with weekly posts, so here is an Ozian drawing I did almost 2 years ago!

It's called "Sharing Stories of Oz"!

Since there are so many books in the original Oz series by L. Frank Baum, and most of them are named after main characters, I thought it would be cool to see different Oz characters read each other's stories. I also had a lot of fun drawing these original Oz characters in my style. This drawing was posted on my deviantART, but since JGT is in Oz, here it is again for all of you!

Again, sorry for no page this week. Despite the delay, I am determined to get this page done for everyone as soon as I can. Gotta love sharing stories, even if it takes a while to do so.

Until then,

Genie

Rainbow Throw Up

Ello, everyone! Genie here with Page 28! Huzzah!

Fun fact time! Remember how I said that I scrapped all the preplanned dialogue for Page 27, because I ended up wanting that moment to be silent and speechless?

Well, I put that dialogue into this page!

The lines about how Oz looks like Mt. Hill if a rainbow were to throw up on it was originally going to be Genie's first reaction the moment she came out of the tent. If anything, it came pretty close, right?

Let's see if we'll run into any other script changes. On to Page 29!

Until then,

Success!!

Ello, everyone! Genie here with awesome news!

The Indiegogo campaign for Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree was a complete success! We exceeded our goal and are over 130% funded! Holy moly, what an amazing feeling...

Thank you guys so much again for your cooperation and support. I know that JGT in OZ was put on hold while I helped wrap up the campaign. I just wanted to say, again, how grateful I am for your patience! JGT in OZ will resume very soon! The next page is in the works and will be finished within a day or so!

Here's to a new children's book coauthored by an amateur webcomic artist! And as always, here's to storytelling, no matter what medium!

Until then,

Getting Close to a New Children's Book!

Ello, everyone! Genie here!

First, just a quick update on Page 28. It is in progress, and I will try my best to finish and post it within the next few days.

Second, the reason why the page is slightly delayed is that the Guardian Princess Alliance (GPA)'s online campaign for Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree has entered its final week!

Cue excitement/extreme nervousness!

I mentioned in a PREVIOUS POST that I am debuting as a children's book (co)author with this book, and so this campaign has been one wild ride for me. As of right now, we are 17% away from our goal with 6 days left! So close, guys!

Here is a LINK TO THE CAMPAIGN if you would like to check out the campaign. We are really proud of this story because it is a great step forward in the world of multicultural children's books.

If you read the details of the book on the campaign and believe that the story deserves to be shared with the world, please consider supporting the campaign by donating! Even $5 will make a great difference! If you are not able to donate, then please spread the word so that we can bring Princess Leilani to life.

That's probably why I'm excited/nervous. I feel like that's how all storytellers get when they have a story they really want to tell...

So, again, thank you all so much for your support, whether for JGT or for my other projects like Princess Leilani! I truly, truly appreciate it! Fingers crossed for this story, and for all stories that are waiting to be told.

Until then,

Genie

Woah...

Ello, everyone! Genie here with Page 27! Welcome to my version of OZ!

This is as much of an adventure for me as it is for you. Changes to the script are becoming constant. I actually had some dialogue for this scene, but I decided to take it out. Sometimes with moments like this, no dialogue is needed. Maybe the deleted lines will pop up later ;)

Hope you guys enjoy the page, and get ready for a whole lot of shenanigans!

Until then,

Surprise! I am the Coauthor of a Children's Book!

Ello, everyone! Genie here with some awesome news! I coauthored a children's book! And it's about to get published!

This is the main reason why the comic pace has been a bit slow. But man, it's an exciting reason.

So, as you may know, I have been interning for this organization called The Guardian Princess Alliance (GPA) for well over a year now. This organization authors a children's book series that star strong, independent princess heroines who use their wit and their powers to protect the planet. The series provides children and their families stories that promote environmental awareness and cultural diversity. If you want to know more about GPA, you can visit guardianprincesses.com!

For most of my internship, I have been part of a collaborative team with other interns to help research and start new drafts for the fifth GPA book, Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree. And now, I can proudly say that I am one of the two coauthors! This book, also coauthored by my friend, Juliann Anesi, illustrates a world inspired by Samoan/Pacific Islander culture. It's about Leilani, a beautiful, full-figured girl who aspires to become a healer. Leilani goes through a lot in this story, and I am very, very proud to have helped create her and witness what lessons she gets to learn and teach our readers.

GPA is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for the illustrating and printing of Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree. If you would like to check out the Indiegogo, you can by clicking here:

LINK TO PRINCESS LEILANI INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN

If you would like to donate, there are many awesome prizes that come with certain donation amounts! And if you would like to help spread the word, thank you so much for doing so!

This is a dream come true for me, and I have this strange and wonderful feeling that this book is only the beginning. I'm telling you, if you have a passion, you may have it for a reason. That passion can lead you to something great. You just got to try your best, work hard, and of course, not give up.

JGT in OZ's next page will be posted very soon. In the meantime, here are some concept pieces I did for Princess Leilani and the Lanu Tree!

I hope you enjoy this sneak peek of Princess Leilani, and please check back soon for more JGT!

Until then,

Coming Soon...OZ

Ello, everyone! Genie here!

The next page is not completely done at the moment. A few things came up on my end, but please know that I have already started the next page (it was a fun one to design....you'll see).

The next page (and scene change) shall be posted sometime this week! Thank you again for your patience! Let's all get excited for the magic of what's to come!

Until then,

Genie

Scene Change...

Gotta love scene changes. They can be done in many ways. Change in the wind. A splash of different color.

The Wizard of Oz uses both.

Until then,

Genie

Freak Out...?

Ello, everyone! Genie here with Page 24! Again, I'm sorry that this page was delayed. I promise, Page 25 won't take that long, haha. You'll see when you see it in a few days.

The main reason why this page took a while is that I've been working on a certain project with my internship, the Guardian Princess Alliance. I'll be sure to tell you all about it soon ;)

Anywho, I hope you enjoy the page! And I hope you brace yourselves for a lot of color soon!

Until then,

Genie

"What Are Friends For?"

Ello, everyone! Genie here to share with you an awesome gift...

So, I recently went through a rough week. But then, Jocey said that she made something for me, and she sent me this amazing picture. And just like that, some of the weight was lifted off my shoulders, and my night was made.

Thank you so much for this, Jocey! You drawing this for me just further illustrates the title of the picture. Thanks for being such a wonderful friend!

I hope you all have awesome days ahead, and if you're going through a rough time, please don't be afraid to reach out to your loved ones, and believe in your own strength, too :)

Until then,

Genie

"I'll be fine..."

Call me corny, but I think that no matter what you're going through, I genuinely hope that you'll be fine. And I hope that you believe that you'll be fine, too :)

Until then,

The Wonderful Birthday of Rudy Jr.!

Ello, everyone! Genie here to wish our Rudy Jr. an awesome, awesome birthday!

For this year, I decided to make Rudy's birthday pic more lighthearted, since the past two years were more on the heavy side.

So, I simply asked Rudy who his favorite Oz character was.

This was his response.

Huzzah for Rudy loving the feisty, sassy, epic Dorothy Gale from the original Oz books. Though he does not play Dorothy in the JGT version, he'll always be a Dorothy fanboy at heart.

Happy Birthday, Rudy! And to everyone else, good luck on April Fools Day!

A Beautiful Spring Day ~ Happy Easter 2016

Ello, everyone! Happy Easter! Happy Springtime! Happy Beautiful Day! No matter what you see today as, I hope you've enjoyed it :)

And for you all, here is a little art piece!

Since it's Easter, I decided to showcase two of the JGT symbols that are usually associated with springtime/joy/new beginnings: the flower and the butterfly. And to complete the trio, tis the always-smiling Jocey! (I also made Jocey human because this piece is also a small tribute to the one-year anniversary of the finishing of the Big Magic Trilogy...huzzah!)

We all hope you guys have a wonderful Easter, and we hope that your day has been filled with a whole lot of smiles!

Until then,

Genie and JGT

Lucky Number 21....?

Ello, everyone! Genie here (finally!) with Page 21 of JGT in OZ! Sorry again for the delay. Redesigning stuff at the last minute isn't necessarily the smartest thing to do, but if it's for the sake of the story, it's at least the right thing to do.

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it! This page is very different from Eppie 9's Page 21. Like I've mentioned a while ago, the number 21 is a lucky number for me. Eppie 9's Page 21 is very heartfelt and calm...

...This page is not.

Here's hoping that the storm dies down soon.

Until then,

Genie

Slight Delay on Page 21....and Some New Fun Facts!

Ello, everyone! Genie here....with no page yet...I'm sorry!!

I haven't had time to draw last week, but I'm planning for Page 21 to be up within the next few days.

In the meantime, I would like to share with you a few fun facts that involve the current episode, JGT in OZ!

Fun Fact #1: The original 10th episode in the first JGT draft was an episode called "Double J Trouble." This was a filler episode. It was about Jocey and Jag making a bet about Jocey not hurting anyone for one whole day, or something like that (it's been a long time since I've visited that eppie). The episode was very light-hearted and didn't really have anything to do with the main plot, but it was fun to write and draw. Gotta love Jocey-and-Jag shenanigans...and a punny title.

Fun Fact #2: I actually wrote a song for the beginning sequence of JGT in OZ. The song was titled "I Don't Know", and the scene was basically Genie singing about how she was afraid that good things wouldn't last forever. This moral was then cut, and the new moral...will slowly be revealed as the episode goes on.

Fun Fact #3: I already had Page 21 planned for a couple of weeks, but I'd been feeling dissatisfied with it. So, like a writer do, I cut it. I just redesigned it earlier tonight, and that page will be ready for you guys soon!

Thanks again for your patience! Here's to more JGT craziness!

Until then,

Genie

Why did it have to be tornados?

Anywho, I hope you guys enjoy the page, despite its simplicity. More and more chaos will ensue in the coming pages, so get ready!

Ozma of OZ

Ello, everyone! Genie here.

Unfortunately, Page 17 is not ready yet. I'm currently dealing with a few things right now so the page will be delayed. Again, thank you for being so patient! Next week, you shall receive both a page and a special treat for Valentine's Day!

So, for this week's post, I doodled a little part of Oz that won't be in JGT's version, but it's actually one of my favorite parts of the Ozian universe.

Yep, I'm talking about Ozma, the Princess of Oz.

Ozma is the official ruler of Oz, as well as a dear friend of Dorothy and the original gang. She has a backstory that is definitely worth reading, so I will leave it to L. Frank Baum to cover that. If you would like to read about Ozma and how she came to be, her story starts in the second book in the Oz series, The Marvelous Land of Oz! It's a lot of fun with new and memorable characters. If you ever run into it, I say pick it up and meet this awesome character.

Though Ozma won't be appearing in JGT in OZ, that doesn't mean that I can't doodle her! If, and I mean if, she were to be a part of JGT in OZ, I probably would've given her role to Jocey. They're both fun-loving, assertive, and feisty when need be, so I think it'd be a good fit. Therefore, in this alternate version of JGT in OZ, all hail Jocey Squirrel as Princess Ozma :)

I hope you enjoy this doodle, and I hope you learn more about Ozma when you can! While you do, I gotta continue this story.

Until then,

Genie

Oh Look, a Page!

Ello, everyone! Genie here finally with Page 16! Thank you guys so much for being so patient! I hope you enjoy it, because the next scene is going to be a bumpy ride.

In other news, see anything different about the site?

Oh look, a banner!

That's right. No more random gray box. We now have a banner. Actually, we've had this banner for a while now. I actually drew it a year or so ago for our other site location on Comic Fury. For a while, it kind of just sat among my computer files. But huzzah! We have revived it! Prepare for small changes like that happening to the site this coming year. Jocey and I love experimenting.

For now, I got to get my characters ready for a storm. No biggie.

Until then,

Genie

JGT Human Doodles! 2016 Edition!

Ello, everyone! Genie here not with page 16, but with a page of doodles! Sorry for no OZ page yet; I'm fighting a cough at the moment, but page 16 is all planned out!

In the meantime, I decided to doodle whatever idea came to mind...and I suddenly wanted to revisit the JGT human designs!

It's been over a year since I've drawn these characters as humans for the comic, so you can see some style changes. It was a fun trip down Memory Lane, and now I am excited to see this comic evolve even more :)

Until then,

Genie

Not Knowing Everything...

Oh, Jag. To not know everything is very human. What matters is that we are willing to learn :)
